Tell us about yourself:

Hi. My Name is Michelle Wahler. I’m the co-founder of Beyond Yoga. I am a wife, a mother of 2 incredible children and I have two elder fur babies. What started as a mere concept led to a global wholesale business, e-commerce site and opening of six retail stores, selling tens of millions of units around the world over the course of nearly 20 years. In 2021, I led the team through the brand’s  acquisition by Levi Strauss & Co.

What inspired you to create Beyond Yoga?

We were inspired to create Beyond Yoga to make clothing for real women that celebrates them as they are. We wanted to make workout gear that met you where you are - we didn’t want you to feel like you had to work out to get into your workout gear.

How do you incorporate movement and/or wellness into your daily routine?

I love movement. Most days I walk my kids to school and then head to Pilates or Pvolve. I’m obsessed with the Studio MDR! 3 days a week I try to do strength training with my trainer @CoachCarlJones. And I walk as many places as possible to get my steps in

What’s one lesson you’ve learned through your career that you wish more women knew?

Don’t try to do everything yourself. It takes a village. You need to learn to delegate, and network. Meeting women who have been where you are, and talking to them will help you avoid pitfalls. People love to help and support, let them:)

What’s one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Trust your gut. You know a lot more than you think you do

Beyond Yoga has built an incredible community—what role has community played in your personal and professional life?

Community is everything! It's great for a brand of course, but personally I don’t know where I would be without my friends and family. The women in my life have impacted me so profoundly, weather it's the women in the female founder community or the moms at my kids' school. They all bring different levels of energy and strength to my life

Who is a woman that moves you—someone who has inspired, supported, or shaped your journey?

A woman who really moves me is my mother in law - Annie Adams. She is always a rock for me. No matter what I’m going through (personal or professional) she always listens and offers sage advice. She helps me think through all the different angles and I really appreciate all of her support.
